Dr. Syngman Rhee, the first president (1948-1960) of the Republic of Korea, in appreciation of the 7th Infantry Division's heroic exploits in the Korean War (1950-1953), gave permission to the Division to use the immortal folk song "Arirang" as it's official march song.
